Richford Ice Jam

In 2014 a January thaw broke the ice and caused a jam around Big Island.
The January ice jam froze solid during the subsequent cold weather.
This year's Spring ice jam formed in front of the January jam.
These pictures were taken in the afternoon of Monday, April 7, 2014. This is a month later than the last ice jam in 2011. The ice jam was a few feet higher the morning of the next day, April 8, but the ice shifted downstream to Big Island that afternoon. Other Richford ice jam pictures are available at:
